Pritzker signs broad energy measure to help lower rising costs

State lawmakers across the country are focusing on the affordability of electricity.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed far-reaching energy legislation Thursday to help make energy more affordable, including by incentivizing battery storage and kickstarting nuclear power and renewable energy development.  

The measure, known as the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act, is designed to help lower utility rates by increasing the electricity supply and imposing certain requirements on utilities.
