Campaign to export Calif. youth digital privacy law falls short

Its last best chance this year failed recently in Minnesota amid opposition by the tech industry.

A coordinated campaign to enact California-style youth digital privacy laws in several other states this year was thwarted amid vigorous opposition from the tech industry and with an assist from legacy news media companies.

Bills fell short this year in Maryland, New Mexico and Nevada. The final defeat came in Minnesota, where advocates thought they had their best shot at passing Age-Appropriate Design Code legislation but came up short in the final days of the legislative session.
