Conn. lawmakers find common ground in year of partisan divides

It had many in and outside the state wondering what the special sauce was that kept both parties at the table.

Connecticut lawmakers celebrated an unusually bipartisan legislative session, which was capped off last week with an invitation for Republican leaders to attend Gov. Ned Lamont’s (D) signing of a $51.1 billion two-year budget that included the biggest tax cut in the state’s history. 

“You did this together,” Lamont said, addressing the assembled lawmakers. In case anyone missed the significance, he said: “To see what this says about this state, just look around the rest of the country. I like the way Connecticut led today.”
