Utah launches campaign to warn parents about social media harms

States across the country have moved aggressively this year in the absence of federal action.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) unveiled a public awareness campaign Thursday to give parents more information and tools to help their children manage their online lives.

The “Harms of Social Media on Utah Youth” campaign is his latest salvo aimed at protecting kids from potential mental health effects associated with social media. It will feature TV spots, billboards and social media messages that direct parents to a website with available resources.
