Oregonians will pump their own gas, finally

Gov. Tina Kotek signed legislation Friday that ends a 70-year old law requiring full service gas station attendants to do it.

Drivers across the state of Oregon will soon be allowed to do something that hasn’t been legal for more than seven decades: Pump their own gas.

Gov. Tina Kotek (D) signed legislation on Friday that ends a 70-year old law requiring full service gas station attendants to pump a motorist’s gas. The bill will still require stations to have full-service attendants on hand, but drivers will now have the option to pump their own gas.
