AI playbook for state agencies issued by Newsom

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has issued an executive order on generative artificial intelligence that encourages the fast-emerging technology while also installing safeguards on its use by state agencies.

Newsom’s executive order, signed Wednesday, touts California as home to 35 of the world’s top 50 AI companies. It highlight’s AI’s potential to “enhance human potential and creativity” and revolutionize fields ranging from medicine to climate science to wildfire forecasting.
