Pot, abortion, energy: Top measures on the ballot this year

Voters in eight states will have a say in policy initiatives.

Voters in eight states will decide the fates of 32 ballot initiatives next month that tackle everything from abortion rights and broadband infrastructure to judicial retirement ages and sewage facility debt.

Many of the measures on the ballot this year are technical fixes and amendments: Texas voters will decide whether to abolish the Galveston County Treasurer’s office, while voters in Colorado will decide whether to raise tobacco taxes.
