Democrats say they are increasingly confident they can pull off an upset next week in Mississippi, or at least force the first gubernatorial general election runoff in state history.
In his bid for a second term, Gov. Tate Reeves (R) must overcome a well-financed and spirited challenge by Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley (D), a cousin of Elvis Presley, as well as a change in state law that ended the requirement that the winner take a majority of both the popular vote and state House districts.
