Dozens of state lawmakers from more than half the states and both sides of the aisle met this fall to learn more about artificial intelligence, which is set to be one of the hottest topics in state legislatures in 2024.
Lawmakers are scrambling to better understand the fast-emerging technology and begin to erect some guardrails, on the assumption that Congress will not act first. The goal of the AI Multi-State Working Group is to develop a shared understanding of AI and some common definitions that state lawmakers can use as they write their own legislation.
