New York received approval Tuesday to spend over $6 billion in federal Medicaid money for a wide range of services for the state’s most vulnerable populations, including housing, nutrition, substance use disorder treatment and behavioral health.
The announcement was the latest health care policy proposal rolled out by Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) ahead of her State of the State address Tuesday. Hochul’s office called the program “groundbreaking” and said it would be “catalytic” to the state’s efforts to overhaul its health care system.
