Dem governors pressure Biden on migrant funding

Nine Democratic governors are urging Congress and the Biden administration to pass a border security deal in the midst of a surge of migrants putting unprecedented budget pressure on state and city governments.

In a letter released late Monday, the governors urged Congress to approve a $106 billion supplemental funding request President Biden proposed last year. That measure would direct $4.4 billion for a federal migration strategy aimed at stemming the tide of migrants flowing over the southern border, and $1.4 billion for state and local governments to handle the influx of migrants in need of services and shelter.
