Colorado House passes brain wave privacy bill

After a 61-1 vote, it now heads to the Senate.

The Colorado House on Friday overwhelmingly passed what could become a first-in-the-nation law to explicitly protect the privacy of neural data, such as brain waves.

Rep. Cathy Kipp (D) introduced the legislation in response to concerns about emerging technologies — sometimes referred to as brain-computer interfaces — that collect data from a person’s central and peripheral nervous systems.
