Hospitals turn to lawmakers for help amid looming financial crisis

Adding to the strain are federal Medicaid policy changes and expired subsidies.

Hospitals bracing for a double whammy of surging uninsured patients and deep Medicaid revenue losses are turning to lawmakers for help, saying everyone’s health care is at stake. 

At issue are federal Medicaid policy changes in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the expiration of Affordable Care Act Marketplace subsidies in December.
