Utah lawmakers approve digital ad tax

They aim to raise money to help improve children’s mental health.

The usually tax-averse Utah Legislature on Friday approved a 4.7% tax on digital advertising revenue earned by social media giants such as Meta and TikTok. 

Republican legislative leaders said the tax undermines a harmful business model while raising money to help improve children’s mental health and get them engaged in offline activities.
