Iran war-driven oil price surge could boost these states’ budgets

Soaring oil prices since the United States and Israel launched air strikes in Iran could mean millions more dollars in tax revenue for energy-producing states.

Alaska lawmakers may have an additional $1 billion to spend through the end of next fiscal year thanks to higher-than-expected oil prices, state analysts said in a report released Friday. For New Mexico, a $1 increase in oil prices this fiscal year would mean a $57 million increase in revenues, according to the state legislative analysts.
