Va. Gov signs, tweaks energy bills aimed at affordability

The bills include a push to increase disclosure at the largest grid operator, similar to laws enacted last year in Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger signed and sought to amend multiple energy bills by the deadline Monday for legislation to be acted upon.

The bills concern the state’s grid operator, residential solar accessibility, and utilities’ electricity demand estimates, which could affect consumers prices. None of the amendments the Democrat recommended alter the thrust of the measures, and the Legislature is expected to approve them.
