Colorado lawmakers unveil new AI bill to address industry criticism

It would replace a comprehensive law passed in 2024.

Colorado Senate President James Coleman and Majority Leader Robert Rodriguez introduced legislation Friday to repeal and replace the state’s 2024 comprehensive artificial intelligence law, a first-in-the-nation measure that drew sustained industry criticism and lawsuits.

The new bill, which arrived less than two weeks before the end of the legislative session, represents a third attempt to overhaul the law after a nearly two-year saga.
