Connecticut beefs up privacy protections

Legislators updated the state’s comprehensive consumer data privacy law with new restrictions.

Connecticut lawmakers gave final approval Monday to a significant update to the state’s comprehensive consumer data privacy law, adding new requirements for data brokers and restrictions on personalized pricing and geolocation data, among other changes. 

The House passed the bill on a 141-6 vote. It now goes to Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont for his signature.
