When tens of thousands of soccer fans pour out of Gillette Stadium after some of the first matches of this year’s World Cup, they are likely to find restaurants still pouring beer — at least across the border in Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island Legislature last week approved companion legislation on broad bipartisan votes to allow licensed establishments to continue serving alcohol until 3 a.m. The bill allows towns and cities to opt into the expanded hours, rather than mandating certain hours across the state.
