Conn. set to launch first state AI safety testing program

The state will accredit auditors to assess AI systems and give companies the ability to earn seals of approval.

Connecticut is poised to become the first state to establish a third-party system to test the safety of artificial intelligence products.

Lawmakers included the four-year pilot project in a sweeping AI and online safety bill they passed this week before the legislature adjourned. Gov. Ned Lamont, a Democrat, is expected to sign the measure.
