Govs move to impose data center development regulations

The three leaders are from both parties and states across the country.

Three governors in recent days unveiled fresh guidelines to evaluate large data center projects, aiming to protect ratepayers, surrounding communities and the environment.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, a Republican, signed an executive order Friday establishing a framework for evaluating data center projects.Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, unveiled a similar plan Wednesday. And on Tuesday, New Jersey Gov. Mikie Shrrill, a Democrat, released a set of data center development principles.
