Dems plan post-midterm redistricting push

Party leaders outlined how November’s state legislative results could provide a boost.

National Democrats are laying the foundation for a major push to redraw congressional district lines in new legislative sessions next year, counting on a promising midterm election landscape giving them a boost in the party’s long-term hopes of maintaining control of the U.S. House.

In a memo to donors and party operatives, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee on Monday said the results of this year’s state legislative contests could give the party a chance to draw new district lines in as many as 13 states, shoring up existing U.S. House Democrats and targeting more than a dozen Republican incumbents.
