Lawmakers cut property taxes, or ask voters to do it

Supporters say it offers much-needed relief to homeowners struggling with the rising cost of living.

Republican lawmakers in at least seven states took action to cut property tax payments this year, under pressure from homeowners fed up with tax bills that have shot up along with property values. 

New laws in Iowa and Georgia restrain local property tax growth. So would measures that New Hampshire, North Carolina and Oklahoma lawmakers agreed to put before voters this year.
