Texas joins growing list of states cracking down on data center costs, impacts

The governor sent a letter to the state utility regulator and grid operator laying out policies he plans to push through the next legislative session.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday became the latest governor to issue regulations, guidelines or principles to ensure data center growth doesn’t hurt ratepayers.

In a letter to the state utility regulator and grid operator, Abbott laid out six policies he plans to push through the next legislative session, which begins on Jan. 12.
