Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall sent cease-and-desist letters to six companies he accused of violating the state’s abortion ban, becoming the latest Republican official seeking to staunch the flow of abortion-inducing medication across their borders.
Marshall demanded that the companies halt all advertising, sale and delivery of abortion-inducing drugs to consumers in Alabama or face a formal investigation and possible legal action for unlawful trade practices, which could include civil penalties up to $2,000 per violation under Alabama’s consumer protection statutes.
