Lawmakers push to scrutinize utility profits amid rising electricity rates

Legislation aimed at making it easier to monitor utilities’ profits and help ensure ratepayers’ funds are spent wisely is advancing in California. 

After the Assembly passed the bill unanimously late last month, the Senate Energy, Utilities and Communications Committee approved the bill Tuesday and sent it to the Appropriations Committee.
