Sherrill signs energy bills that target rising electricity prices

The New Jersey governor’s office said rates surged 33% between 2023 and 2025.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed three energy measures she said would help lower electricity prices. 

The bills impose a special electricity rate on data centers; increase oversight of utilities’ construction of transmission infrastructure; and remove a surcharge on electricity bills, saving ratepayers a projected $60 million a year.
