Federal housing bill builds on years of state policy

It borrows from the YIMBY playbook state lawmakers from both parties have embraced.

The sweeping housing bill on President Donald Trump’s desk is chock-full of pro-housing ideas pioneered by states, in the latest example of state policy inspiring federal decision-makers. 

The bill’s four leading U.S. House and Senate sponsors did not respond to Pluribus News requests for comment. But housing advocates who worked on the bill say there is a clear connection.
