Blue states pass ‘good cause’ eviction laws

Colorado and New York join six other states in taking the step to protect tenants.

Colorado and New York this month became the latest states to enact “good cause” eviction laws, a victory for progressives who have spent years advocating for such tenant protections.

Supporters say the laws should cut down on arbitrary, retaliatory and discriminatory evictions, help renters feel secure in their homes, and give them the confidence to ask landlords to fix problems with their building or unit.
