R.I. advances plan to import drugs from Canada

Rhode Island lawmakers advanced a bill that could lead to the state importing prescription drugs from Canada, pushing ahead despite roadblocks facing other states.

The Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved a plan modeled after laws already enacted in more than a half-dozen states — none of which have imported a single pill yet.
