California law aids breastfeeding mothers in court

It provides a confidential way to request a pumping break and requires the time be given to do so.

State courthouses are becoming more accommodating to breastfeeding mothers thanks to a series of laws passed across the country that require space and time for employees and visitors to pump.

The latest is in California, where Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill this week requiring state superior courts to provide a confidential way for anyone participating in court proceedings to request pumping breaks and to be given the time to do so.
