Blue states want corporations to disclose greenhouse gas emissions

At least four states are considering bills similar to California’s first-in-the-nation law.

A New Jersey Senate panel on Monday advanced a bill that would require large corporations to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions as a way to help tackle climate change, one of a handful of blue states attempting to go beyond a Biden-era federal regulation.

Bills in at least four Democratic-controlled states — Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey and New York — would require companies to report their emissions annually, including emissions from across their supply chains.
