Polis vetoes social media regulation bill

It sets up the potential for a rare veto override.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) on Thursday vetoed a bipartisan social media regulation bill, possibly setting the stage for a rare veto override vote in the Democratic-led legislature.

The bill, which both chambers passed with overwhelming majorities, aimed to protect youth from social media dangers such as the sale of firearms and drugs, as well as sexual exploitation. But Polis and other critics questioned its constitutionality.
