The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday upheld a Texas law that will require adult websites to verify users are at least 18 years old, a key case that is likely to pave the way for laws in nearly half the states.
In an opinion authored by Justice Clarence Thomas, the court held that Texas has an interest in protecting children from sexual content. Thomas wrote that the law did not violate the First Amendment rights of pornographic websites.
