Blue states sue Trump over disaster funding cuts

The lawsuit alleges a senior Trump administration official illegally shut down the BRIC program.

A coalition of 20 states led by Democrats filed suit Wednesday against the Federal Emergency Management Agency seeking to block the Trump administration’s move to cut funding from a disaster mitigation program that has fueled thousands of projects in recent years.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts, alleges a senior Trump administration official illegally shut down the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program, or BRIC, created by Congress in 2018.
