Calif. lawmakers forge deal to reauthorize cap-and-trade program

It’s a key tool in the state’s broader efforts to achieve a net-zero carbon economy.

California lawmakers hammered out an agreement to extend the state’s environmental cap-and-trade program through 2045.

The proposal was part of a legislative package designed to help protect environmental policies and reduce energy costs for Californians.
