Calif. lawmakers tout role as bulwark against Trump agenda

California lawmakers say they are leading the way in protecting climate change policies from a crackdown by President Donald Trump, while also making energy more affordable for consumers.

At a signing ceremony Friday for a package of six energy and environment measures, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and state legislators criticized Trump’s energy agenda’s focus on more oil and gas exploration and ending subsidies for renewable energy.
