Texas voters set to decide noncitizen voting amendment

Also next month, Maine voters will decide several changes to election law.

Texas voters will decide whether to amend the state constitution to enshrine a prohibition on noncitizen voting.

Proposition 16, one of 17 constitutional amendments on Texas’s November ballot, would add “persons who are not citizens of the United States” to an existing list of people explicitly disallowed from casting a ballot, including those under 18.
