States rush to fill food aid gap left by federal shutdown

The governors of California and Colorado announced efforts Wednesday.

State leaders are scrambling to prevent families from going hungry next month due to the federal government shutdown.

At least two new efforts were announced Wednesday, and more could be forthcoming.
