Younger buyers frozen out of real estate market

An annual survey found the median age of a first-time homebuyer reaching an all-time high.

A new survey shows the median age of first-time homebuyers hitting a record high, more evidence that a pricey real estate market is keeping out younger Americans.

The 2025 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, issued annually by the National Association of Realtors, found the median age of a first-time homebuyer rose to 40 years old this year, up from 38 last year.
