State legislators say AI preemption would stifle policy innovation

Nearly 300 state lawmakers signed a letter to Congress expressing “strong opposition” to a renewed effort to bar states from enforcing artificial intelligence regulations.

U.S. House Republicans indicated last week that they may include a preemption provision in the National Defense Authorization Act, which must be passed before the end of the year.
