100% clean energy bill set for vote in Michigan

A Senate committee advanced the legislation that gives the state a 2040 deadline to complete the process.

The Michigan Senate Energy Committee advanced legislation that would require the state to move to 100% clean energy, which would make it the 12th state with legislative mandates to decarbonize its energy sector.

The Democratic majority passed the bill on a party-line 9 to 5 vote without much debate, with a floor vote its next step toward passage.
