$2.2B headed to 18 states for electrical grid upgrades

Most of the projects are focused on ways to maximize the transmission of electricity across the existing system.

Eighteen states are set to receive a portion of $2.2 billion in federal funding aimed at improving the reliability of the nation’s electrical grid.

The eight projects spanning those states will “help us to meet the needs of electrified homes and businesses and new manufacturing facilities and all of these growing data centers,” U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm told reporters Monday.
