Each week brings a new batch of bills to regulate artificial intelligence, one of the hottest topics in America’s statehouses this year.

The National Conference of State Legislatures has identified nearly 250 AI bills introduced across 42 states. Some focus on AI’s government or educational uses, others on private-sector deployment. There are broad regulatory measures and targeted ones focused on issues such as AI deepfakes.
