Abbott pushes for nuclear power expansion in Texas

The governor said he wants to “unleash” the nuclear industry’s full potential.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) wants Texas to become a powerhouse in the global nuclear energy industry, including in manufacturing and the supply chain.

Speaking at the Dallas Citizens Council’s annual meeting last week, Abbott said he wants to “unleash the full potential of Texas’ nuclear industry.” The comments followed last month’s release of a report Abbott commissioned in 2023 to study nuclear development in Texas.
