Agrivoltaics gains momentum as legislators advance solar farming bills

Legislation was introduced in states including Connecticut, West Virginia and Hawaii.

Lawmakers in at least 11 states introduced legislation this year to allow and encourage farmers to place solar panels on agricultural land. 

The Solar & Farming Association and other supporters of what’s known as agrivoltaics say incorporating farming operations within solar arrays benefits farmers and helps to generate more renewable power as electricity demand skyrockets.
