AI in healthcare spurs wave of state legislation

States are racing to keep pace with the rapid spread of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with hundreds of bills introduced this year in response to the technology transforming every aspect of how treatment is paid for and delivered.

“As a health professional, I recognize every day that AI is changing how we deliver healthcare,” Pennsylvania Rep. Arvind Venkat, an emergency physician, said at a May hearing on a bill he is sponsoring.
