Americans have little faith in institutions

A new Gallup survey found just 9% say they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.

American confidence in the core institutions that undergird society, the economy and government is near an all-time low.

An annual survey conducted by the Gallup Organization finds just over a quarter of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the presidency, the U.S. Supreme Court and institutions like the medical system, banks and organized labor. Fewer than one in five profess similar levels of confidence in big business, the criminal justice system and newspapers.
