Billionaire-backed group pushes for social media data portability

A billionaire-founded group that led an effort to buy TikTok is teaming with lawmakers in several states to pass legislation that would give consumers more control of their social media data.

Project Liberty this year helped policymakers in Utah craft the Digital Choice Act, which was signed into law in March. It grants consumers the option to transfer their social media history from one platform to another, among other rights.
