Bills targeting transgender community meet judicial blockades

Most recently, federal judges in Kentucky and Tennessee on Wednesday temporarily blocked bills set to take effect this weekend.

Republican legislators this year raced to adopt new laws specifically targeting the transgender community. In the months, weeks and even days before many of those bills are set to take effect, judges are pumping the brakes.

Federal judges in Kentucky and Tennessee on Wednesday temporarily blocked parts of bills banning access to gender-affirming care for transgender youth that were set to take effect over the weekend.
